The Meeting Place - Music Promo

Musician and artist Keaton Henson’s understated style belies his large following and renowned performances at prestigious venues such as the Barbican Hall, London. We had the great pleasure of working with Keaton on a previous project that involved animating his artwork on a live interactive web page to promote the release of a collection of his artwork Welcome to Tallowmere (link at the end).

So it was wonderful to work together again animating his artwork on the promo for his track ‘The Meeting Place’ from his latest album ‘House Party’.

Mini Tonic are great to work with, and have such a deep understanding of movement and how to bring something static to life in a way that feels organic

Keaton had a very specific feel he wanted for the character’s walk cycle and even sent through a reference video of himself pacing up and down. Our challenge was to translate this onto the artwork version of Keaton and keep an understated and natural flow to the walk animation. The walk cycle animation was to be used for the entire length of the promo and we provided the character work back to Keaton so he had the flexibility he wished regarding his background artwork.

As mentioned, we also created an interactive web page for the release of Welcome to Tallowmere, a hardback book of Keaton’s artworks with an integrated headphone jack to allow the reader to listen to his specially orchestrated music alongside the imagery. All based around a strange fictional town and the dark mysteries that surround it.
